Meet Priten
Priten Soundar-Shah is an educator, philosopher, and entrepreneur working at the intersection of technology and education.
He is the founder of Pedagogy Ventures, which integrates cutting-edge technology with proven teaching strategies, and Academy 4 Social Civics, a nonprofit dedicated to civics education that prepares students to tackle future challenges. Through these ventures, he develops innovative solutions that help educators and students navigate rapid technological change.
Priten is the author of the international bestseller AI & The Future of Education: Teaching in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (Wiley, 2023), and the forthcoming book Ethical Ed Tech: Leading on AI, Devices, and Surveillance in K-12 Schools (Wiley, 2026).
He also teaches social science courses at College Unbound, a bachelor’s degree-granting institution focused on adult learners.
He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Harvard College and an M.Ed. in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Under Priten’s leadership, Pedagogy Ventures has helped over 200 educational organizations adapt and thrive – from guiding schools through the shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic to introducing AI tools that make teachers’ lives easier.
Priten’s philosophy is simple: put educators and students first, and innovation will follow. He is often heard saying, “I see myself as a philosopher who codes, not a developer who philosophizes,” reflecting his belief that technology in education must be guided by thoughtful pedagogy.
